March 2010  Chico Barnes and Noble Bookfair

The public was invited to support the Butte County Library by shopping at the Chico Barnes & Noble on March 20 and 21.  The Chico, Durham, Gridley, Oroville, and Paradise Friends of the Library and the Love Your Library Committee partnered with B&N and held a bookfair.  Our goals were to raise awareness of what the Library and each branch has to offer, inform the public of what the Library needs and how they can help, raise funds for future activities, sign up new library cardholders and new Friends members, and to provide an opportunity for supporters to purchase books from the Librarians' wish lists for their local branch.  Barnes and Noble contributed 15% of every purchase made by library supporters.  We raised $751 and received a great many books for the collection that were purchased by supporters from the wish lists.   A big thank you from the Friends to Barnes and Noble, Managers Cari Gillespie and Kurt Lundberg, and all of the community members who came out and supported the Butte County Library.
